The piano has always been my friend, and over the years has become my voice. I am a perennial student of it, taking great delight in discovering new techniques, new voicing's and new harmonic paths.

Composition is always a wonderful adventure of painting with sound. I also derive great joy from 'stream-of-consciousness' piano performance, or composing in the moment. Without the critic of thought, sonic landscapes can be discovered that would otherwise never have been found, and like some lone explorer walking in the wilderness of silence, beautiful sonic vistas present themselves when least expected.

I trained with the BBC (British Broadcasting Company) as a technical operator before taking a job as assistant engineer at Pye Recording Studios in London. After that I played with a number of bands before emigrating to the USA in 1982 where I had a successful career as a session player, touring across America.

Although I would count my whole musical life as an education, I specifically studied counterpoint, composition, score study and ear-training with Professor Steve Rothstein of UCLA and composition for orchestra with Robert Drasnin.
